Welcome to Highgrove House

The later years of life should be a time for enjoyment, with a combination of active engagement, restful reflection and fulfilling friendships.

Individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s may face new challenges and frustrations that complicate day-to-day living. But with the right support in the right environment, you or your loved one can find a new opportunity for security, comfort and an ongoing zeal for life.   Highgrove House provides the best possible care for individuals, navigating the shifting dynamics of ageing and memory loss. We are a community of dedicated, compassionate and caring staff. Highgrove House is a small 19-bed home focused on healthy meals, mentally stimulating activities, and round-the-clock care.

Unlike larger facilities with long hallways, impersonal staff and inadequate attention due to the sheer number of residents, Highgrove House offers a warm and homely environment. We are leaders among specialised care homes in West Sussex. Contact us to learn more about options for respite, day care, or permanent residential care. We are a care home that feels like, well, a home.

OUR ETHOS

Creating a safe, supportive home where residents come first.

We know that daily life can be a rich and rewarding experience, even at the height of certain mental or physical limitations. But it requires trained and experienced staff creating an environment built for safety and success—an environment with routines and activities tailored to support cognitive function and emotional well-being. Above all, as one of our residents, we make it clear to you: this is your home, and you are our top priority.

What we offer

Specialist care services designed to support comfort, dignity, and well-being.

HOSPITALITY

Great care begins with great nutrition.

Well-being is at the forefront of all our services, especially when it comes to food selection. We’re on a mission to provide outstanding care, and it all starts with nutrition. Highgrove’s chefs and culinary team create bespoke seasonal menus—flavourful and crafted with an eye for ingredients that promote brain and heart health, and provide residents with the fuel they require to take on all other tasks and activities.

Daughter of Resident

Thank you for taking such good care of our father over the past 2 years. The move into Highgrove definitely gave a lot of joy back into his daily life. He told us on every visit what a ‘super place’ he was staying in. His days were never boring, and the staff became his second family.

Thank you all for caring so perfectly for our ‘G’. You clearly loved her. It doesn’t get better than that.

Highgrove House Prospective Resident FAQs

For a breakdown of our fees, please refer to the Care Fee section of our website.

Our care fees include:

  • Cost of care
  • Room accommodation
  • All meals and refreshments
  • Housekeeping and laundry services
  • All organised activities, exercises, and entertainment

Please note that our care fees do not encompass any therapeutic services, including chiropody, dentistry, audiology, hairdressing, etc. Our fees do not cover taxi service or other costs associated with staff accompanying residents to the hospital, doctor’s office, or other professional appointments. Additional room toiletries and amenities can be purchased at an extra cost that will always be disclosed in advance.

While we primarily cater to privately self-funded residents, we can also accept funding from local authorities, provided you are able to top up by paying the difference between the social service rates and our care fees. We always recommend that prospective residents seek independent financial consultation to explore different options and determine the best use of their funds.

We review our fee annually. Any fee increase will reflect inflation rates, increases in minimum wage and living expenses, along with third-party supplier costs.

Yes, you may terminate your residency contract without notice at any time during the first month. After the trial period, either you or Highgrove House can terminate the agreement by giving one month’s prior notice. In the event that a resident’s needs have changed and Highgrove House is unable to meet those needs, the agreement may be terminated without advance notice. Both sides can terminate the agreement on 14 days’ notice for any material breach which is not remedied within a reasonable timeframe.

The charges will cease to apply when the room is cleared and all belongings are removed.

We normally register our residents with the GP surgery close to Highgrove House. However, if a resident wishes to remain with their current GP,  we will do our best to accommodate and will check with your current GP to see that they  would agree to this.
